Is there a part of you that you have always wanted to express to the world, but just never have?
Do you have an inner biker chick or something else just waiting to emerge?
Then it’s time to get in touch with your wild side and bring some fun back into the way you dress, so you don’t end up looking and feeling like a dowdy little old lady.
Why not get noticed for the delicious dynamite that you are - and use clothes to do it! Here are 5 easy tips to help you find the real you!
1) Trail blaze a path to you inner style
First, you must be open to a change now, not 10 pounds from now. Finding clothes that fit the body you are currently sporting is important and can help improve self-esteem.
Next, do your research. Look around for inspiration. Do you know someone who always seems pulled together and looks great? Take note of what she has on and shop for something similar. If you feel out of touch and don’t want to end up looking like your 14 year old daughter or 90 year old grandmother, then hire a personal shopper to help show you which current styles would look good on your body type. If it is not in your budget, try asking a friend whose style you admire to go with you.
Are you feeling too conservative and want to try something sexy and and different. Why not try adding a leather jacket, skirt or pants. If leather is just too way out for you, try suede. It has a softer look and feel. Leathers and suede come in lots of colors. Pastel suedes mellow what normally might be considered edgy. When pairing your new item with a conservative counterpart, the look can be surprisingly classy and perfectly acceptable at work. Better still – on the weekend leather or suede, can be worn with jeans and a quality t-shirt.
2) Shop somewhere new
If you’re still shopping at the same stores, in the same departments, why not shake things up a bit? Step out of your comfort zone and try shopping somewhere new. Small boutique stores tend to carry the most current styles and updated merchandise. They also carry small designer brands, so when you buy something, you are sure to look unique in your new outfit.
Chances are that even if you spend a bit more than you’re used to, you will find something you love and adore. You will wear it many more times than just another cheap, boring item from a sale rack. We like to call this price per wear. If you average the amount you spend on an item by the number of times that you wear it, it can justify the original expense.
For example, you may find a funky faux fur vest at a local boutique. Try pairing it with some jeans to run around town in. This one piece may be a bit more expensive than what you would normally purchase but if you absolutely fall in love with it you will wear it frequently. It will be worth the price.
Be careful of sale items that end up hanging in our closet with the tags still on them? Sale items are the trickiest to buy, since the price can woo you into buying an item that you don’t necessarily love and adore and then never wear. It’s always better to hold off and find that next special piece.
3) Life should not be about blending in
It’s time to sizzle, not fade away. Why not shake things up and shoot some color into your wardrobe? This spring you’ll see lots of bright and cheery hues vying for your attention. This is an easy way to add some much needed punch to your closet. Even if you love black, with just a dash of color from a new spring top, purse, shoes or scarf, you can go from dull to dashing in an instant. However, buyers beware! Not all colors look good on all people. If in doubt, drape the item near your face and analyze how it complements your hair, eyes and complexion. Still not sure? A good rule of thumb is that the color should not wash you out, or be so loud you see it before you see you. This is important in making an outfit work for you.
4) Fear of letting go
One of the biggest hurdles to overcome can be all those clothes stuffed in your closet. It’s time to pull up your bootstraps, roll up your sleeves and start kicking booty! We mean get rid of all those old, boring, tired and ill-fitting things. Most women have a closet full of clothes they don’t like or never wear. If you remove those items out of your closet, you’ll have a much better idea of what you really need to buy to keep your closet fresh and inspired!
5) On the road to a great hair day
Let’s face it, if you are still sporting a style that you’ve had for the last 15 years, think again. It just might be time for a change of gears! You can buy the latest clothes and accessories, however if your hairstyle is dated, you will look dated. How do you know when you need a new do? Your first step is to make an appointment with a reputable hair salon.
Ask to book a consultation with one of the top stylists. It might take a few weeks to get a space, but it will be worth the wait. Don’t be shy to go for some color and a new cut or style. If you’ve been sporting a short look for a while, it might be time to let your hair down and grow it out!
Finally, dressing like a biker chick isn’t for everyone, but you probably have a wilder side to you that is waiting to be expressed. With a little effort you can rev up your wardrobe and start dressing with more flair and pizazz. Dress like you are a force to be reckoned with and see if you’re not feeling stronger and more ambitious each day. Embrace all your style…It’s not about just one look. It’s about finding a style that reflects the inner you. Have fun!

Has the hot summer got your face looking dull?
Summer is the time to make sure to keep you face exfoliated.
Recently we came across a unique all woman company that we think is creating wonderful skin care products specifically for pre-menopausal and menopausal women called Emerita.
We tried their microdermabrasion (all natural) face scrub and loved it! It had just the right amount of scrubby granules to make this scrub gentle, and afterwords our face was smooth and glowing!
Then, we went onto to try the moisturizing cleanser and balancing toner, which we found both to work fine and to be extremely refreshing! (Probably because they have peppermint and rosemary and other natural oils in them.)
This company's skin care products get the Glam Gal's Seal of Approval!
We had never heard of this company before, but the story goes that it's been around for 30 years! Has anyone else used these products and if so, do you like them and which ones?
In a recent blog post, we mentioned that when it gets really hot out, a sun dress is a much better option than shorts. So, now with all the Summer sales in full swing, why not pick up a fresh frock to get you through this season!
Here are five fabulous after 40 looks, that we think you'll love, as well as some great tips on the best way to choose a sensational sun dress that is age appropriate and still chic!
These dresses are all available on line and on sale... just click the underlined words.
1. Fit: This is a great fitting dress and will work on most body types.
2. Color:Pretty on dark or tanned skin, but be careful as it might wash out those with fair skin.
3. Neckline: "V" necks are flattering on almost everyone except those with long necks.
4. Length: At the knee is easy to wear.
5. Fabric: Love this silk fabric. It is classy and can be worn to work, out to lunch or even a casual dinner!
1. Fit: This is an easy fitting dress and will work on most body types. The empire waist will hide any tummy bulge.
2. Color: This blue will look goon on most!
3. Neckline:These straps have some substance to them and are not too thin. They keep things sexy without showing too much skin!
4. Length: Not too short! This is a good thing...
5. Fabric: This flowing matte jersey knit, will look good from day into evening, and not wrinkle! (Hint: this dress will look best with a pair of Spanx underneath!)

2. Color: This pretty print, will look best on those with pink skin undertones. ( summers and winters)

4. Length: If you have good knees, go for this peek a boo shorter look!

Are you wearing your tennis shoes around town?
Unless Your Maria Sharapova, there is no excuse to wear tennis shoes while out and about. With so many comfy flat shoe options these days why not try a comfortable flat or even a sneaker flat, both of which will have your legs looking better already.
Think Your Shorts Make You Look Short?
They probably do! Longer Shorts, which are more flattering on us, have they tendency to make most silhouettes look short and frumpy! Try exchanging your shorts for a flowy skirt or a sun dress. Both can be just as comfortable and so much more flattering and best of all will keep you cool!
What's Happening on Your Upper Lip?
Have you been noticing a little extra hair on your lip lately? You really have to look close to see it, and look from the side view too! Yikes, it pops up all of a sudden, before you know it. It sad, but true, that it seems as though as we get a bit older our lip hair becomes more obvious. Try a simple waxing or Laser Hair Removal to rid you of that unwanted hair.
What's In Your Wallet?
More importantly what does the outside of your wallet look like? Is it fat and bulgy? More people see your wallet then you think! Why not show off a little fashion sense in your accessories with a sleek new wallet. A great wallet looks chic on anyone!
How is your hair?
Have you found that your just pulling it back in a ponytail all the time, or just stuck in a hair rut? Be brave and bold and get out of your comfort zone. Start researching and imagining new ideas for your hair, go to a new salon, and have fun!

The Blo & Go was invented by a model who was frustrated trying to maneuver her blow dryer and brush at the same time. What started as a twisted hanger soon turned into The Blo & Go.
It's really very simple- a big suction cup adheres to your mirror and is strong enough to hold your hairdryer! Then you just move (or dance) around while styling your hair!

Let's face it, if you are over 40 you're probably not going to have a figure like Heidi Klum's.
But, even if you do have a few boomer bulges here and there, there are ways of dressing that can actually make you look slimmer.
Here are 5 Ways to Avoid Looking Fat after 40:
1. Steer clear of too many Bold Patterns.
Large, bold patterns are what's in style this summer and if you're thin as a toothpick you can pull this look off, but for boomer babes with a little bit of beef you've got to be careful or you'll look like a giant walking bolt of fabric. This is especially true for shorter full figured women who can look totally overpowered by a big print. Instead of wearing a head-to-toe pattern, try pairing a solid pant or skirt with a pattern on top. You'll still get the bold pattern vibe but you'll look much more chic.
2. Avoid Puffy Sleeves
Put a short puffy sleeve on a puffy 40+ arm and you'll end up looking like a cream puff.
Not only does a sleeve like this add weight, it's a very cutesy, young look that just doesn't cut it, when you really need to look all grown-up. Puff sleeves may look delicate on the hanger, but all that gathering right at a big flabby point on your arm just adds bulk.
3. Stick to Lighter Colored Shoes
If your calves and ankles are on the heavy side and you don't want to say bye bye to dresses, then be sure to stick to lighter colored shoes. Calves and ankles look heavier in any shoe that is darker than your skin tone. Also, cute little ankle straps may be tempting this summer, but they will make your calves and ankles look like tree stumps! Large calves and ankles look slimmer when ankle straps are avoided.
4. Cool it when Combining Colors
A garden bouquet of bright bold colors is the trend this Spring. Fashionistas are mixing and matching colors creating some pretty wild combinations. But too many bright colors in one outfit can chop up your figure, making you look short and stout. Be careful not to get carried away with this color blocking trend. Instead, pick a couple of your new favourite shades and pair them with a neutral like white or taupe for a more sophisticated, streamlined look.
5. Lose the Embellishment
Sometimes it's hard to resist a pretty pair of jeans with lots of detail and pretty embellishment. But, rhinestones, embroidery, fancy pockets, studs and other busy details will only emphasize a part of the body you may not want to emphasize. If you are conscious of your middle age spread, don't point a spotlight on it by wearing jeans with fancy front pockets or an unusual waistband. If you have a little extra junk in your trunk, avoid too much embellishment around back. The simpler the better, if you don't want to draw attention to an area.

With all the new luggage regulations and extra charges for multiple bags, it's more important than ever to make sure you pack smart. Once you learn how to pack less and pack the right things you will never want to go back to your old ways again!
So here are the Top 7 Do's and Dont's for Packing Light and Packing Right:
1. Don't think you need to pack one outfit per day.
It may be hard to admit, but the fact is, since most of us shower everyday, our clothes don't really get all that dirty or sweaty. Think twice about having the exact number of outfits to match the exact number of days. A couple less won't hurt.
2. Do plan your outfits around your shoes.
How many times have you laid out all your clothes only to realize you'll need to take 5, 6, 7 or more pair of shoes to make them work. Shoes waste a lot of valauable space. Always start with the 2-3 pairs you will be taking and work all your outfits around them, instead of the other way around.
3. Do make sure you pick outfits that color co-ordinate.
Create wardrobe capsules (grouping of items that work together) in neutral colors like black, white, cream, grey, brown. That will give you the base to start with. Then you only have to throw in a few colorful scarves, tops, and accessories to liven everything up and change your look.
4. Don't choose fabrics that are high maintenance.
Linen pants and starched cottons wrinkle after a few hours. Pick fabrics that have some stretch in them like nylon, so you don't end up looking like you've been sleeping in your clothes. Another great thing about non-wrinkle clothing. You can roll them up in a ball and gently squeeze them into your suitcase - real space savers!
5. Do use large ziplock bags and label them.
Keep items like pj's in one bag, clean underwear in another, and dirty items in another. Another trick is if you're taking 2 suitcases, slowly transfer the dirty clothes to one case as the days go on. Then half way through the trip, if you are travelling from one place to another, you'll only have to lug one suitcase from the car to the hotel room; the one with the clean clothes!
6. Don't forget the stain remover.
If you've ever spilt something on your favourite new outfit while on vacation you probably know the frustration of having to hunt around in a foreign city to find some kind of stain remover. What a nusiance! Be sure to pack a tiny bottle of laundry stain remover when you travel. A small amount of dishwashing soap to cut grease also works wonders. Both come in very handy to help lessen stains until you can get home and do a proper wash.
7. Don't leave home without a pretty pashmina that matches your outfit.
Weather is so unpredicatable and a pashmina is light to pack but very warm. Pashmina also can take you from day to night and they really dress up a plain outfit in case you suddenly find yourself going somewhere fancy.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, we won't spoil it for you, but will say that the fashions were a feast for the eyes!
Lots of fabulous colors, all kinds of interesting ways of mixing and matching styles (ie: loved the ladylike pink linen shift dress Carrie wore with the edgy wide black studded belt- a wild contrast that worked.)
We were also was crazy for the big bold earrigs they all wore- do you remember wearing that kind of thing in the late 80's? Sure everything was exaggerated, like the pair of hoops that Miranda wore that were over the top, but on the whole we loved the idea of big, bold accessories.
We went home fashion -inspired after this movie. What struck us was that these women are in really in touch with their femininity and celebrate that via their own their own unique style...made us want to go out and shop, get all dolled up to go out for some fun!
The New York Times had a nice article about it, Click here, to hear each one tell a little about their roles!
